A good friend of ours has often complained that we never show any musicals, so when the opportunity came for us to run a mini season of classic musicals we jumped at the chance! First up we are screening Top Hat, the 1935 American screwball musical comedy film in which Fred Astaire plays an American dancer (Jerry Travers) who comes to London to star in a show where he meets and attempts to impress Dale Tremont (Ginger Rogers) to win her affection.
Come and watch this undeniable classic as we return to the wonderful Shire Hall, a Grade 2* listed gem situated in the centre of Stafford. Don’t miss your chance to hear it’slavish songs (including the gorgeous ‘Cheek to Cheek’) and see its effortless, masterful dance sequences on the big screen, amplified by the iconic chemistry between Rogers and Astaire.
